Figma shortcuts

Every trip to the toolbar costs you a second. Watch a fast designer work and you will notice one hand never leaves the keyboard. Here is every Figma shortcut, Mac and Linux side by side — as a page to search and as a sheet to print.

Read the keys first

A keyboard shortcut is a key combination that runs a command without touching the mouse. Most start with a modifier key: a key that does nothing on its own but changes what the next key means — the way Shift turns a into A. Hold the modifiers down, then tap the last key.

Mac Linux Name
Cmd Ctrl Command, the Mac's main modifier
Option Alt Option
Shift Shift Shift
Ctrl Ctrl Control. On a Mac it is a different key from Cmd

Most of the time the rule is that simple: Cmd becomes Ctrl and Option becomes Alt. When a shortcut breaks the rule (look at Bring to front), the two columns below tell you.

Your keyboard changes some shortcuts

Figma adapts the shortcuts that use punctuation keys (/ \ [ ] < > ' ,) to your keyboard layout. This list follows a US keyboard; where the Spanish version is known to differ, the row says so. If a shortcut does nothing, open Figma's own list for your keyboard: Ctrl+Shift+? on a Mac and on Linux alike.

Learn five, not 159

Nobody memorises a whole list. Learn these five this week, then add one a day.

  • V Move: your way back from any tool
  • F Frame: the box every screen starts in
  • T Text
  • Cmd+D / Ctrl+D Duplicate
  • Shift+1 Zoom to fit: for when you get lost on the canvas
